About this piece:

The diagram fails to show the heat source: located in the loops at the bottom of the IV bag. The heat causes a small amount of pressure in the tubes which terminate over the eyecups, causing dripping. The cups drain back into the bag, as water always finds its own level, and the eyecups are carefully placed to equal the level in the bag.
